Abstract

Why doesn't this stuff either work the way we always thought it would, or the way we want it to? The reality of computing today is that until there is ubiquitous bandwidth, there are still going to be applications that reside on the desktop, which will seek to interact with applications that live on the web, in the cloud.

By looking at what is working as well as what isn't, together with some ideas regarding UI design as well as the interaction of various platforms, there is an opportunity for developers to partner and to try to build perhaps a different type of platform. One where semantics mean the same thing, and can have the same predictable result regardless of the device or context. I believe that we have come to this juncture in computing with a tool kit in hand.

Not the kind of tool kit where all we have is a hammer in search of nails, but rather one that allows us to get a remarkable amount of things done. With tools, that if properly applied to those items that are coming will cause a new paradigm shift in how we use Office 2.0 related products.
