Abstract

While several powerful platforms are emerging within the Office 2.0 sector, most are offered by a single company or are narrowly focused. OpenSAM strives to connect the thousands of innovative stand-alone applications into one large, open, continually evolving, broad and deep office 2.0 suite. The goal is to make it easier for end-users to integrate applications they need and to broaden the audience for application developers. The most unique aspects of OpenSAM are that it is not an Application Programming Interface (API) in the traditional sense, and that no one company dictates how it is developed, used, or deployed. Key features include single sign-on, document sharing, dynamic application provisioning, and copy and paste.
